Hector Brian Kiernan, affectionately known as Brian, completed his earthly journey on April 2nd, 2024, at his home in Canton, encircled by the love of his devoted family. Born in the scenic town of Georges River, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Brian carried with him the warmth and friendliness characteristic of his hometown throughout his life. He was the cherished husband for 59 years of Marguerite (MacLellan), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship.

Brian's journey began in the close-knit community of Georges River, where he received his education and developed the values that would guide his life. In 1962, he brought his admirable work ethic and boundless energy to the United States and proudly served in the Army National Guard, dedicating himself to the service of his adopted country.

After his military service, Brian became a well-known figure in his community as the Owner and Operator of Brian & Son Service Station. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellent service made the station more than just a business; it was a place where friendships were formed and sustained. He served his customers with a smile until his retirement in 2014, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.

Family was the cornerstone of Brian's world. He was a loving father to Brian Patrick Kiernan and his wife Nancy of Avon, Cyprina Gearty and her husband Brian of Norwood, Kimberly Easterbrooks of Canton, and the late Stacey Kiernan. As a grandfather, he shared his wisdom and joy with grandchildren Bryan Gearty, Sarah Gearty, William Kiernan and his wife Marissa, Jonathan Easterbrooks, Skyla Kalfin, Jillian Easterbrooks, Emma Kiernan, Mia Landrigan, Jacob Landrigan, and the late Joshua Kiernan. Great-grandfather of Joss Easterbrooks. Brian's siblings, Mae McNeil of Georges River, Nova Scotia, and Anna Evans of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, will remember their brother with deep affection and pride. He is also survived by numerous brother in laws and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.

Brian's interests and hobbies reflected the simplicity and richness of his life. He found solace in the quietude of his garden, the camaraderie of a card game, and the refreshment of a cold beer on a sunny afternoon. These simple pleasures were shared generously with friends and family, creating memories that will be treasured and recounted with smiles.

Described as faith-filled, loving, and generous, Brian lived his life as a testament to these virtues. His unwavering faith was a source of strength and comfort to him and to those who knew him. His love was a beacon that drew people in, and his generosity knew no bounds. He gave not just material gifts, but the more precious gifts of time, attention, and genuine care.

Brian's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit remains a guiding light. His life was a journey of love, laughter, and selfless service. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched.

We honor and celebrate the life of Hector Brian Kiernan—a true gentleman, a pillar of his community, and a beacon of love and generosity. His story does not end here, for it is etched in the hearts of his family and friends and will be recounted for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Brian, until we meet again.
