Andrew F. O'Toole Jr., aged 80, of Canton and Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood, Massachusetts. Born on September 4, 1943, in Waterbury, Connecticut, he was the cherished son of Andrew F. O'Toole Sr. and Rosemary E. O'Toole (Dineen) . Andrew's life was one of dedication, service, and boundless love for his family and community.

As a loving husband, Andrew is survived by his wife of 45 years, Claire A. O'Toole, whose companionship and support were the cornerstones of his joyful life. His legacy continues through his children, Jennifer C. Soares and her husband Stephen of New Bedford, and Michael A. O'Toole of Framingham. He was predeceased by his daughter, the late Margaret Rose O'Toole. Andrew was a proud and doting grandfather to Sophia and Lily Soares, who brought him immeasurable joy and laughter.

Andrew was a respected sibling, leaving behind his sister, Marybeth Hanks and her husband Kenny of Naugatuck, along with his brother James O'Toole of Naugatuck and pre-deceased by his brother John O’Toole.. His family ties were a source of immense pride and comfort, and he will be fondly remembered as a beacon of strength and love within his family. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Naugatuck High School in Connecticut, Andrew furthered his education by earning an Associate's degree from Fisher Jr. College. His commitment to lifelong learning and self-improvement was an inspiration to all who knew him.

A proud Navy veteran, Andrew served his country with honor and distinction. His dedication to duty was a testament to his character and set a precedent for his unwavering work ethic throughout his life. Following his military service, Andrew embarked on a successful career as an IT specialist at the MBTA, where he was well-regarded by his colleagues for his expertise and reliability. He retired in 2011 after many years of commendable service.

Andrew was a man of faith and fellowship, actively involved in his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Canton Lions Club. His commitment to these organizations reflected his deep-seated belief in the value of service and community engagement.

His intellectual curiosity was evident in his membership with the BNUG computer group, where he shared his knowledge and passion for technology with fellow enthusiasts. Andrew's hobbies included solving Sudoku puzzles, which he approached with the same patience and problem-solving skills that he exemplified in every aspect of his life. He also cherished his daily walks, which not only provided him with a sense of tranquility but also an opportunity to connect with nature and his neighbors.

An avid fan of the Boston Celtics, Andrew's enthusiasm for the game and his team was infectious. He enjoyed watching the games with his family and friends, celebrating each victory and analyzing every play with the keen insight of a true aficionado.

Andrew's life was marked by his unwavering integrity, kindness, and the profound impact he had on those around him. His memory will be treasured and kept alive in the stories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

The void left by his passing will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire his loved ones. Andrew F. O'Toole Jr. will be remembered not only for the life he lived but also for the countless lives he touched with his generosity, warmth, and gentle humor. He was a man who truly made the world a better place, and he will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton Friday morning at 10:30.  Burial to Follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.  Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veteran’s Service Department 801 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
